What is Cylinder Snapping / Lock Snapping?
You may well have heard of “cylinder snapping” or “lock snapping“ or even the term “lock bumping”. Lock snapping is a very common method used by burglars to break into property that has a euro cylinder (e.g. almost all properties that have UPVC doors, although a significant number of composite & aluminium doors use them too, and they’re often used in commercial as well as domestic environments).
By fitting a 3 Star Kitemark standard cylinder, you can minimise the likelihood of being burgled using this method of lock snapping. At Mike B’s Security we stock the Avocet ABS Range of TS007 3 Star British Standard High security cylinders, Police approved and awarded the Sold Secure Diamond.
The door cylinder is the heart of any door and has top priority when it comes to protection against break-ins. Despite their importance, many locking cylinders based on outdated technology are still being fitted – with no protection against tampering.
